Eye for the Light - Quiet Nature

Join Chris Coe for a peaceful and very enjoyable four and a half hour workshop immersed in nature. With Chris, you’ll be looking at patterns, shapes, textures and colours in nature. It’s a mindful and relaxing approach to photographing details and landscapes, and can be very rewarding, both for you and your photography. It will help you with your composition and to see better and more powerful images when photographing broader landscapes too.

How many people: Places limited to only 5 photographers. This workshop can be booked on its own or with the Crazy Red Squirrel workshop on the same day.

Location – where is it: The Yorkshire Arboretum is 120 acres of peace and tranquility in the heart of North Yorkshire, a stunning landscape of parkland, lakes and ponds within a collection of more than 7,000 trees from around the world. The Yorkshire Arboretum, Castle Howard, York, YO60 7BY.  Directions.

What’s included: Tuition and guidance from Chris, Yorkshire Arboretum entry fee, donation to the arboretum (it’s a charity), tea or coffee mid-morning.

What you’ll need: Lens choice is up to you on this one but bring at least one lens with macro or close focus; a wider angle and/or a telephoto could also be good for some shots; a tripod may be useful but not essential; a reflector or flash (if you’d like to use it) to help fill in or pick out detail. ideally we’ll be working with available natural light.

Do I need to bring something to eat:  You can, but there is a very nice and affordable cafe on site where you can buy a delicious lunch after the workshop. We’ll also stop for a break mid-morning.

Will it take place even if the weather is bad:  YES. Nature is even more beautiful when the sun isn’t shining.
