Never forget to smile…
Hiran Cooray is the epitome of humble charm, and a man of many facets. He’s family orientated, religious, a cricket enthusiast, wildlife and nature lover and a proud Sri Lankan. He is a son of the founder of Jetwing, an important player in the Sri Lankan tourism industry, Herbert Cooray.

Hiran is a businessman, a family man and a Sri Lankan, but not necessarily in that order. As owner of the biggest hotel group in Sri Lanka – Jetwing – and a key figure in the tourist industry, he has carried on his father’s legacy and is now handing that on to the next generation.
For him, business isn’t just about profit. It’s about people. In this podcast he chats with Chris Coe about his life, his sustainable approach to both his employees (associates) and his guests.
He also talks about how important spirituality in his life and how it guides him. The conversation is a bit different from our usual photography lead podcasts as we focus on travel and tourism.

Hiran has huge respect for what his father achieved but make no mistake, Hiran is his own man. His manner may be gentle but his determination is fierce, and it’s a determination to do things properly and in the right way to benefit Jetwing, but also the many people who work for him and his country.
In this podcast, he talks to &Coe about his life, his motivations, his work, his love of family, of nature and much more, so enjoy this insight into all things travel and all things Sri Lanka.
