The long road to emotion

For wildlife photographers and conservation film maker Charlie Hamilton James life has been a long road from a childhood passion for otters and kingfishers to creative and emotional story-telling.

Charlie is now a world renowned photographer and wildlife filmmaker. His work fuses emotion with technical complexity, as a tool for evocative storytelling.

Here he talks to Chris and David about how it all began with kingfishers and otter, working with National Geographic, his conservation work and how this fits with the lives of indigenous peoples.

His last two projects couldn’t be more contrasting ‘End Times’ is a powerful and brutal comment on the state of our planet, and is the collision of a lifetime of learning and understanding; whilst ‘Billy & Molly‘ is a love story which takes him back to where it all began.

In this podcast, he talks to Newton & Coe about his life, his films and images, and how he tries to approach conservation differently.
